CHARLIE LISTER continued to prepare his Betfair Trainers’ Championship team when sending greyhounds for trials at the March 23 host venue Doncaster on both Friday and Saturday.
Jordansoilutions, who reached the finals of all three events he ran in last year (Puppy Classic, East Anglian Derby, Eclipse), was the standard-setter over 483m at Saturday’s session when steering a rails course to post 30.05sec (-40).
Lister’s Droopys Belletti, off the track since May, continued on the comeback trail when clocking 30.32sec, while unraced June 2008 pup Farloe Vader posted 30.68sec.
On Friday, the ex-Irish Carrigoe Bigphil caught the eye with a 17.26sec (-40) workout over 275m, 13 spots quicker than 13-time winner Farloe Lee recorded in his spin.
Unraced February 2008 dog Tyrur Biggs went well over 483m, leading throughout to beat Shelbourne Buck just under six lengths in 30.67sec (-80).
On Wednesday, sponsors Betfair host the traditional pre-Championship luncheon for the six trainers – Lister, Chris Allsopp, Seamus Cahill, Dean Childs, Barrie Draper and Mark Wallis – at London’s Langham Hotel (11.45am for midday reception).
